Why do you care what others think of you ...

"because you don't live alone on this planet and your survival depends on the society you live in"

An answer given by another EP member that struck a cord and I just wanted to write it down for when I needed it!

Don't you hate it when you answer a question and someone leaves a nasty comment in reply and you immediately jump in with both feet to respond and you write the first thing that pops into your head!

THEN .. lying awake in bed thinking over the day, you come up with the most brilliant response but it is just too late to go back and change things!!!

That happened yesterday regarding another EP member calling me a sheep ... if only I had thought about it for a minute or two instead of answering him right away, I could have come up with a witty and funny response!

Now I will have to bide my time until someone else happens to call me a sheep so I can hurridly add my brilliant response. Better write it down somewhere so I have it handy .. just in case :)

I've had some things tumbling around in my head for a while now and thought writing them down might make them clearer for me. They might not make a great deal of sense but putting them "out there" cant hurt either right?

When you are a member of EP you have the privilege of meeting some amazing people. People who bring many different things to your life. New ideas, different ways of looking at things and new views on how to move forward in life.

Not all the interactions you have here are positive. Even the bad ones have a positive angle if you take a step back and look at them objectively. You always take away something new you have learned from a negative experience .. understand what not to do or what not to say next time... how to protect yourself from those that are toxic.
 
While the negative usually has a "silver lining" I am not about to leave myself in a situation that is becoming progressively negative and bringing nothing positive to the exchange. By positive, I don't mean only positive for me .. I don't want flattery and accolades  ... I want something positive from you ... about you ... 

Something you have seen that made you smile, a happy memory, a flavor that you haven't experienced before, a step in the right direction you have made recently ...  

No one can survive on negativity all the time .. and if that is all you or I bring to our "friendship" then someone has to take a step back ... end things before both become "infected".

Having said that, I'm by no means a "fair weather friend". That's not what friendship is about. It's sharing the highs and the lows once you have built a connection. But it has to go both ways .. I'll weather the lows with you each and every time so long as I know I can count on you to do the same with me. You can't brush off my hard times because you are so engrossed in "you"! I also want to share the highs with you too .. be there to celebrate your "wins" and share in the times when all is right in your world.

To those who have been true and lasting friends .. I feel blessed to have been allowed into your world. To see a little of the way you "tick" and to be able to learn from your experiences vicariously. Thank you for the time you invested getting to know me .. the real me, not just the facade that we all wear. Sometimes I am a little difficult to "crack" .. guess that's the downside of being painfully shy, but I hope your efforts have been worth it!


 

In the last few weeks, there have been quite a few of the bigger "players" in my circle that have decided that EP was no longer the place for them, or at least not as the frequent visitors that they once were. I am stll keeping in touch with a special few that have become good friends, those that have stepped past the internet "barrier" and into RL.

To start with, I was feeling a little lost. I no longer had the trusty few to fall back on that I had gotten to know well and was very comfortable with. I found myself visiting less often too and not getting the "buzz" that logging in used to provide.

After thinking about it for a while, I have realised that my reasons for being here have changed somewhat, but I do still want to be an active member.

What a great choice that has turned out to be!!!!

Already, I have made some new friends that are turning out to be real treasures and re-discovering old ones that had "fallen" through the cracks!

While big changes can be scary, they can also be the best thing to have happened in a long time!!

I can't wait to see what the next Chapter in my EP adventure holds!

Today is Anzac Day ..

A day of remembrance and reflection.

A day I find very difficult.

I have been unable to turn the TV on today or listen to the radio without hearing "The Last Post' played. Of all the things that bring back difficult memories, listening to the bugle play always brings the tears for me.

It has only been just over 18 months, and I hope someday it will get easier .. but not today.....
